My current driver - the one downloaded through windows update - is version 8.561.0.0, dated. I'm guessing the only course of action at this point is to wait until for ATI to (hopefully) release an updated driver. I've tried the mobility modder software with newer ATI drivers (9.4, 9.3) and neither has worked. When it is plugged in, however, hibernation results in a blue screen with a "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE". When my laptop is running off battery power, hibernation works perfectly. This computer is a bit old but I have been looking for graphic drivers that can support my processor: Intel(R) Core (TM)2 Duo CPU E8400. I also have a strange problem with hibernation. Im also aware that ATI Radeon is compatible up until Windows 8. The software was redesigned from the ground up to provide users a more intuitive interface as well as various tools for tweaking and customizing your Radeon graphics card.

I can run source games like Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead with no slow-down, but after ~5 minutes they start a cycle of freezing (graphical glitches, sound starts repeating, screen turns black for ~10 seconds then normal picture/control comes back) which repeats every 2-3 minutes. I have a mobility x1600, and Windows 7 was able to install semi-working drivers for it through windows update.
